Koffee and her Rise in the Music Business

Koffee whose given name is Mikayla Simpson had a humble beginning in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Her father walked away when she was quite young and she was raised by her mother who was a devoted Seventh Day Adventist Church member who worked in the Ministry of Health.

However, Koffee fell in love with Reggae music while she attended Ardene High School in Kingston , Jamaica. She is now a talented songwriter, Rapper, Reggae Singer, Deejay and guitarist. The amazing young artiste was inspired by Protoje a fellow Reggae artiste.

She first became famous on the internet after she sang a tribute song to Usain Bolt, he shared it on Instagram and it went viral. She later got more exposure when she was introduced to the audience at “Rebel Salute” in Ocho Rios by Cocoa T.

The young sensation was only 19-years-old at the time when she signed to Columbia Records and won a ‘Grammy’ after she grew up singing in church and also learned to play the guitar at age 12.

The song that gave her worldwide recognition was “Toast” , it was produced by Major Laser in 2019. She made history as the youngest and only female to win a Grammy award in that category.

Some of her hits include Blazing, Raggamufin and Burning.
