Leon Bailey Injured
27-year-old Reggae Boy Leon Baley suffered what appears to be a muscle injury during Aston Villa’s third match of the new EPL season on Saturday vs Leicester City.
The Jamaican winger was substituted 16 minutes into the first half after he tried to block a pass but hurt himself in doing so. Aston Villa led the match 1-0 at halftime.
The injury comes a week before Jamaica’s match versus Cuba in the CONCACAF Nations League which will take place on September 6 at the National Stadium in Kingston. The injury also comes one day after Bailey was named in Jamaica’s 26-man squad which was announced on Friday.
Bailey was expected to feature after not playing for the national team for months. As per reports, Bailey talked to the current coach of the team and assured him in writing that he would cut his break and return to the squad when called upon.
However, as a result of the injury, the St. Andrew native is a doubt for Jamaica’s upcoming matches against Cuba and Honduras.
