As reported a few days ago, on June 7th, Jamaica National Football player Leon Bailey’s baby mother Stephanie Hope, Bailey’s son, his brother and another individual were travelling when the vehicle in which they were in overturned, another vehicle was also seen damaged from the accident.
Stephanie first took to social media shortly after to give thanks to God for saving her and others involved in the accident. On Friday Leon also took to social media to express his feelings, disclosing that he heard about the accident moments before the game at the National Stadium in Kingston vs Suriname.
The Aston Villa player stated, “June 7, 2022: A Game Day I’ll never forget. Just a few moments before the game, I received the most devastating phone call. I was informed that my family was in a horrific car crash. I cannot describe the thoughts that went through my mind. At that moment nothing else mattered but holding on to hope that they were still alive. Immediately I left camp to the hospital, which seemed like the longest car ride ever.”
The video below has been trending on Twitter and is said to be the moment that Leon arrived at the Hospital and did not want to follow protocols.
He continued his statement by thanking God, he stated, “By the Grace of God, they are here with us today and sustained no injuries. Despite all that was going on, they gave me their blessing to proceed with playing the match. It may not have been my best game, but I played for my family. I played for my country and that is what gave me the encouragement while my world was in shambles. We are just grateful they are here with us today. Thank you for all your concerns and best wishes. We kindly ask you to keep us in your prayers and respect our privacy. – LB.”
The accident that left two motor vehicles wrecked happened on the North-South High Way at Unity Valley.
