Thirty-seven-year-old Dustin Beechner of Missouri, United States, was arrested and charged for beating his 6-year-old daughter to death with an aluminum baseball bat.
According to a probable cause statement, Jozlyn Marie Beechner was found on the roof of their St Joseph house under a white sheet. She is said to have suffered blunt force injuries. Reportedly, on the day of the murder, September 2, Beechner led detectives to her body and tried to make a narrow escape.
However, he was subsequently detained for the alleged fatal beating and charged with a felony count of child abuse resulting in death.
Beechner made his first court appearance last week and was denied bond after trying to convince a High Court Judge to drop the charges due to his previous good behaviour. However, it was dismissed, and was informed that anything said in front of the prosecution could be used against him at trial.
