There was tragedy in Jeffrey Town St. Mary on Wednesday evening, as a toddler was left dead and two persons were injured in separate attacks.

Romeo Henry the alleged attacker, cut the throats of three of his relatives. A 2-year-old Mikayla Cox died from her injuries.Henry was later killed by an angry mob.

A 65-year-old man and the 5-year-old sister of Mikayla are currently battling for their lives in hospital.

Family members insist that they saw no sign of trouble before. The community members believe Henry was depressed because he lost his job due to the economic down turn caused by Covid-19.

The father who lost his daughter said the tough times caused by Covid-19, caused him to move from Kingston to St Mary to do farming. He said he knew Henry well, they went to school together, he was very quiet and humble, not a troublemaker.

Henry was a 39-year-old chef and he started behaving strangely after he was laid off from his job.

A fun game of Bingo was being played just before the killing took place. Bobbet Morgan Simpson, head of the St Mary police, reported that the community did not take any action to assist Henry with the situation he was in after he lost his job. They didn’t think he would become violent.
