Man Pretends To be Guidance Counselor to Abduct 12YO Girl in Westmoreland

Marlon Mellis, a 43-year-old sales representative of addresses in Westmoreland and Clarendon was apprehended and charged with forcible abduction and sexual touching of a 12-year-old girl.

Reports are that Mellis pretended to be a guidance counselor to the minor who was awaiting transportation to school in the parish of Savanna-la-Mar in Westmoreland. Through this, he was able to gain her trust and propositioned to offer her a ride to school, which she accepted.

However, the accused drove off with the 12-year-old, stopped on the street, and began to remove the child’s underwear and fondle her bottom with his private parts.

A report was subsequently made to the police and the child was examined by doctors.

The investigation by police officers led to the arrest of Mellis on Saturday, October 15, and he was charged the following Wednesday after being pointed out during an identification parade.

A court date for Mellis is being finalized.
