Masicka Responds to Being Called “The now King of Dancehall”

Masicka has been calling himself a King, but he has also acknowledged that there are many other Kings, naming his most recent album ‘Generation of Kings’ to convey that mindset. At the start of his most recent interview published early Sunday morning, Masicka was labelled the current “King of Dancehall” because of his successful albums and other musical achievements.
“Stopping by today is the man who wears the crown, dubbed the now King of Dancehall, the melodic magician with he mutated flows…the mastermind behind the most streamed Dancehall albums for the past three years, 438 and G.O.K. respectively…”
“The man is slated for the seat, the King himself Masicka,” host Don Biggs stated as he introduced the Portmore artiste. In response to being called the King, Masicka stated that there are many Kings in Dancehall.
“All a we a King yo hear, yeah man, every black man a King inna him own right… You a King inna your own right… as long as yuh deh pan the path to greatness and yuh weh yuh suppose to duh as a man you is a King inna your own right,” he outlined.
He went on to name five artistes who inspired him in Dancehall, they are Bounty Killer, Dolla Coin, Vybz Kartel, Sizzla and Assassin. He declared that Vybz Kartel is the “toughest lyricist”.
In the interview, Masicka also hinted at a future collab being released with New York rapper Bobby Smurda. Talking on seeing Bobby Shmurda singing his song line for line, Masicka stated, “it is a good feeling… bigup Bobby Shmurda,” he next stated, “We actually connect and mek a link,” he was asked if anything is in the pipeline to which he responded, saying “yeah, soon”.
Days ago, Vybz Kartel added Masicka to his top five lyricists list, aside from himself, after failing to initially do so. Kartel stated, “Donia, Sassin, Law Boss, Skillibeng, Masicka… mi dog dem affi live!”
