Mavado’s Son ‘Dante Brooks’ Sentenced to Life in Prison

The son of Jamaican dancehall Super-Star Mavado, Dante Brooks has been sentenced to life in prison, several weeks after he was found guilty for the murder of Lorenzo Thomas. Dante’s co-accused Andre Hinds who is 26 years old was also sentenced to life in prison.

Dante who is 18 years must serve 22 years before he can go on parole while Andre Hinds must serve 17 years before being eligible for parole. Brooks got a 15-year sentence for arson and 20 years for illegal possession of a firearm while Hinds got 15 years for arson and 15 years for illegal possession of a firearm.

Both men were found guilty on January 27th, 2021 in the Home Circuit Court and said to be two of several men who entered the house where Thomas was staying and killed him, the Killing was allegedly witnessed by Thomas’ father who was reportedly put in another room.

The house where the killing was done was set on fire, the Killing reportedly took place on June 5, 2018.

The team of lawyers representing the accused are Peter Champagnie, QC; Oswest Senior-Smith; for Brooks and Tamika Harris for Hinds.

Mavado is yet to respond to the verdict which was probably anticipated. Mavado, unfortunately, lost his mother a week ago, a day before the verdict was initially expected to be handed down.
