Dante Brooks, the son of dancehall superstar Mavado is patiently watching and awaiting the outcome of his trial which kicked off a few days ago after being charged in 2018 for, Arson, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, shooting with intent and conspiracy to murder.
Brooks who is now 18 years old will be tried as an adult, he is being represented by Lawyer Peter Champagnie QC who reported to the Jamaica Star that the much-anticipated trial started on Monday, January 11th, 2021 after being earlier reported to start on January 7th.
According to Peter Champagnie a verdict may be handed down as soon as the end of January however the prosecution is serving it’s case and cross-examining the main witnesses.
Neither Dante nor his co-accused Andre Hines will be giving statements in the court however they are closely following the activities.
While Peter did not declare that his client will walk free, he did outline that he will be presenting the best case possible as he was told by Brooks that he’s innocent, “we have clear instructions from him that he is innocent and we are certainly going to be challenging the prosecution’s case as it goes along” he stated.
Mavado took to his Instagram a couple of days ago to send a positive message to his son as he fights for his future. Mavado wrote in the caption, “I love you son”.
The Gully God also released a new song titled “Not Perfect” whereby he touched on the current situation his son Dante is going through, outlining that people love to talk even when they don’t know the true story, the Gully God also believes that his son will be coming home soon.
