Merciless says Ninja Man should write “Positive” music in Jail
The musician made the proposition minutes following Ninjaman’s convicting, that was scheduled for yesterday and was put off until Monday in the Home Circuit Court.
Desmond Ballentyne as known as ‘Ninjaman”, was condemned for the assassination of a man, found guilty by a seven-member law making committee on November 20 this year. Ninjaman being accused of the killing of Ricardo Johnson also known as “Trooper”, in march 2009 with Janiel, Ninjaman’s son, and Dennis Clayton pronounce guilty.
Leonard St Ledger Bartley also known as Merciless stated: “Gwaan (go and) write some great songs and if dem let you out fi come voice and bring you back in, just come sing positivity,” Merciless, who came to advocate the skilled musician made a statement and said: “I am here today at the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston because Ninjaman is a great friend of mine… Me nuh want Ninjaman go a nuh prison because I wouldn’t wish prison on my worst enemy.”
“Moreover, Ninjaman is not my enemy, we just clashed in the music business. He helped lot of youths and did lots of good [for] reggae music,” Merciless said of his companion musicians.
“Ninjaman gave room for a number of younger musicians to earn some cash to purchase houses and cars”, and he demanded the judge to have mercy on him during his conviction.
The musician was seized in 2009 and detained for 3 years before he was permitted to file for a bail.
