Mother Strangles Her Two Kids To Death In Miami, Florida
Odette Lysse Joassaint, 41, was arrested and charged by the Miami Dade Police for killing her two young children on Tuesday, April 12.
According to a report from the Miami Dade police, several drop calls were made to 911 from her apartment in Little River, which consequently led them to investigate the matter. Upon entering her apartment, Joassaint greeted the officers with the words “Come get them, I don’t want them anymore”.
Her children, 3-year-old Jeffrey Belval and 5-year-old Laurel Belval were found to be bounded by their ankles, wrists, and neck. They attempted to resuscitate both children until the Miami Fire Rescue crew arrive, but were pronounced dead.
The cause of death is being determined by the medical examiner’s office, however, police suspect that the main cause is death by strangulation.
The children’s father, Frantzy Belval claims to not have lived with Joassaint but was an active father in their lives as they would usually spend the weekends with him.
Based on further reports from the Miami police, after the incident, the accused told detectives that her motive for killing her children was because of financial struggles, and her kids would suffer less if they were dead.
On Wednesday, April 13, Joassaint was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, and in her first appearance at the Miami-Dade court, she was ordered held without bond.
