Nas, birth name Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, had his home burglarized while he was out of town over the weekend.
According to police sources in the area, at around 8: 30 PM PT on Saturday, November 12, two unknown assailants snuck onto the property and got into the space by breaking through a door at the back of the house. They managed to evade the cameras until they were leaving, where Nas’s team spotted them on a Ring Camera.
Reportedly, the team for the Rare artiste only saw the two men as they were making their getaway from the rapper’s Calabasas property and thereafter alerted the police. However, they were nowhere to be found by the time the authorities were able to make it to the scene. The house was left in shambles after the robbers riffled through everything and escaped with at least two bags worth of items, though it is still unclear how much exactly was taken or how much it was all worth as the entertainer was not home at the time.
When the heist was in progress, Nas was said to be in New York City (NYC) and the house was left unattended in his absence. As the rapper is still in New York, there has been no catalogue made of the items that were taken and so law enforcement is unable to pinpoint what to look for.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is said to be investigating the burglary, but there have been no arrests made or any suspects listed in connection with the crime.
