Nicki Minaj Claps Back At Singer Tracy Chapman Over Copyright Claim

Since last year Nicki Minaj and Tracy Chapman, have been going head to head in a legal copyright battle. Recent days have seen the case growing to be even more interesting as Nicki Minaj has rebutted to Chapman’s claim.

The “Fast car” American singer is claiming copyright settlement, from the hyperconfident female rapper, for using a sample, from her song entitled “Baby Can I Hold You” to produce the track “Sorry”, for which Chapman says, Minaj had no permission for use.

Nicki is now boldly stating that she used the track fairly, even though she was denied permission for the song to be on her album.

The rapper further stated, she was not the one who sent the song to DJ Funkmaster Flex, who leaked the song. “Sorry”, features Nas, and was supposed to be on the Young money Queen’s latest album.

The female rapper stated that, though she recorded the song and earlier had told Dj Funkmaster flex she was going to send him, she did not do that as she said her perspective changed. Flex said that it was a blogger who sent him the song and not Nicki.

Nas as the other artiste on the track is also under the spotlight as he did get a copy of the song. Despite Nicki’s urge to throw out the case some time ago her legal team is now pressing for it to go on as it seems that they have renewed confidence that the track was fairly used.

Since the opposing arguments were given by Minaj’s team, there hasn’t been anything said from Tracy Chapman. Her response should be quite interesting since Nicki is also suggesting that the 56-year-old contemporary folk singer does not even own the copyrights for the song.
