Super Freaky Girl by iconic female rapper Nicki Minaj was released on August 12, 2022, and has officially made history after rising to the top of the charts and being the track with the most pure sales this year according to reports. This song has made Nicki, who is already a diamond-selling artist, the first female rapper to debut with a song at #1 on the Billboard charts since 1998 when Lauren Hill debuted her iconic single Doo Wop (That Thing).
Billboard tweeted that the song tallied 21.1 million U.S. streams, 89,000 downloads sold in its first week (according to Luminate), and 4.6 million radio airplay audience impressions.
At 1:26 On Monday, August 22, Nicki tweeted a thank you note to her fans saying “you did it” for pushing her song to trump aristes like Lizzo and Harry Styles, and Future for the number one spot. A Barb (as her fans call themselves) said, “barb 4 life. no one deserved a solo number one more ever.”
The single serves as her first #1 hit and the fandom is looking forward to the music video that will feature the Vikings actor Alexander Ludwig.
Notably, in the song, Nicki Minaj showed off her love for the Jamaican lingo by singing “Some gyal a freak” in the outro of the song.
