Oblique Seville Beats World Champion Marcell Jacobs – Watch Race

21-year-old Jamaican sprinter Oblique Seville has beaten the Italian World Champion Marcell Jacobs in the men’s 100m preliminaries on the first day of the 2022 World Athletics Championship.
In Seville’s first outing in the World Championships, he ran his second best time, coming out ahead of Jacobs with a time of 9.93 seconds. Jacobs came in second with a time of 10.04, his season’s best but his 2020 Olympic best stands at 9.80 seconds. Seville’s best time is 9.86 and he stands at number six in the world ranking.
During an interview, Seville said that before the race he was clocking in at 10 seconds flat and he and his coach have been working to improve his technique. Seville is coached by the head coach of the Racers Track Club Glen Mills, a club that has produced greats such as Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.
