PM Holness Plans To Extradite Criminals To Jamaica

Thursday, March 17, 2022, 10:45 PM GMT-5

Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced in his 2022/2023 budget debate today, March 17, the plans of the government to work with international partners specifically the United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK) and Canada to extradite criminals who are importing illegal guns to the country.

PM Holness warned that he had these words for all those persons who believe that they can send guns to Jamaica in barrels and TVs without no repercussions, “Stop it! We will find you and we will ask for your extradition back to Jamaica to serve time in a Jamaican prison”.

Since the start of the year, the government has been steadfast in ensuring that the ‘Get Every Illegal Gun’ crime-fighting initiative that was launched this year by the Prime Minister is upheld. This initiative has resulted in the seizure of numerous illegal firearms in the country and has intercepted many trying to pass through the ports.
