“I everyone by now you would have heard the great news, Jamaica’s unemployment rate is 4.5%,” states Prime Minister Andrew Holness in a video released Wednesday morning.
This video comes on the heels of reports that Jamaica is seeing the lowest unemployment rate in its history.
According to Holness who has been in charge of Jamaica since 2016, “this is the best news our economy can have,” he went on to outline that this means that Jamaica’s economy continues to expand and more Jamaican families have income.
Holness also highlighted that the nation has taken a step closer to “full employment” something he is proud of.
“More Jamaicans have income […] we are building Jamaica,” he concluded.
The caption of his post stated, “Jamaica’s unemployment rate has hit an all-time low at 4.5% – a remarkable achievement that brings us closer to full employment than ever before.”
