Police Inspector Collapses And Dies On Duty In St. Andrew

Inspector Rupert Harper was handling a conflict in Papine, St. Andrew on Saturday, February 5, when he suddenly felt ill. Harper then collapsed on duty, and, after being rushed to the hospital, he died.

Inspector Harper was stationed at the Detention and Courts Division when the incident occurred. He was transferred to this division from the St. Andrew South Police Division in 2013, and he served seven years there.

The Police High Command sent condolences to the family and colleagues of Inspector Harper, who was described as upbeat and optimistic. Harper was not only an individual who fiercely defended those under his command, he was also a husband and a father of three.

Likewise, Harper had served the Mobile Reserve Division and the Band Division.

Subsequently, the Police High Command reported that personnel from the Chaplaincy Services Branch and the Community Safety and Security Branch were closely helping Harper’s family and colleagues.
