Policeman Fatally Shot While Trying to Stop Robbery in St. Ann

Monday night, a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Constable Ricardo Fairclough, was fatally shot during a confrontation with a gunman in St. Ann. Reports indicate that Constable Fairclough, stationed at the St Ann OST, intervened during a robbery at a local supermarket in the parish.
Witnesses state that Constable Fairclough, upon observing the robbery in progress, rushed to aid an injured individual who had been shot by the gunman. Engaging in a shootout with the assailant, Fairclough sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The incident has prompted a manhunt for the perpetrator responsible for the constable’s death. The Jamaica Police Federation has confirmed Constable Fairclough’s passing, expressing profound sadness and condolences to his family and colleagues.
The central committee of the police federation conveyed their grief, describing the loss as a sombre moment for the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
