A video of Jamaican-born English footballer Raheem Sterling getting baptized at a Jamaican-themed church has been making rounds online. In the footage, the 29-year-old Arsenal loanee, dressed in all white, is seen being submerged in a pool of water before being lifted out and wrapped in a white towel.
The video captures a poignant moment where churchgoers are seen praying during the baptism, followed by a spirited rendition of the hymn “Goodbye World, I Stay No Longer with You… I Made Up My Mind to Go God’s Way the Rest of My Life.”
The video, which was posted on Instagram by user Maindanger on Saturday, has sparked a wave of reactions. One commenter praised Sterling, saying, “He’s doing it the right way. He’s putting God first. Several years ago, at 24 years old, Sterling shared his faith journey, revealing that he was raised in the church and that his mother instilled in him the teachings of God from a young age.
