Raheem Sterling, the professional football superstar who plays for Manchester City and England’s national team is now considered as one of the best wingers internationally at 27 years old. Although Sterling was born in Jamaica to Jamaican parents, he moved to London, England at the tender age of five. He started his career playing with the local youth team Alpha and Omega before signing for Queens Park Rangers. From there he has played with Liverpool and Manchester City as well as the English national team.
However, Sterling is now entering the final year of the contract that he has with Manchester City and there have been talks that he would like to transfer to Chelsea if they agree to pay the requested transfer fee of 50-60 million pounds despite how interested Real Madrid has been in the player. It is believed that due to the recent signing of both Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland to Man City’s powerhouse squad, Sterling does not have the most confidence that he will be able to play as an official starter and is thus considering the change to Chelsea.
Sources state that he is open to continuing to play in the Premier League as a part of Chelsea’s team as long as he is able to play as a regular member under the tutelage of manager Thomas Tuchel.
Jules from the “Gab & Jules Show” hypothesize that Chelsea’s new owner Boehly is looking for the type of player that Sterling embodies to be a part of his team and that is the reason for wanting the transfer. However, Gab is sceptical and stated that based on stats and skills, there is already a player like that on the team in the form of Hakim Ziyech, but he is just never used.
With Sterling’s interest in playing for the side, it all boils down to Chelsea being able to pay the transfer fee requested for Sterling to see if the deal will be written in stone or still up for grabs.
