“Freedom is a must,” announced shemarmckennon early this morning with a throwback photo of incarcerated dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel dated 2016.
The Instagram account @shemarmckennon, a dedicated Gaza fan page, treated fans to a photo of Adidja Palmer, also known as Worl Boss, Teacher, Adi, and, professionally, Vybz Kartel.
The photo was presumably taken at the prison in 2016 where the convicted artiste is being kept and shows him standing next to an associate, who was wearing a white T-shirt, khaki pants and slippers. Meanwhile, the entertainer wore a green and black Calabar jersey shirt, white jeans, and sneakers.
The two were all smiles in the photo, which was shared as an act of solidarity for Kartel’s release.
Kartel has been incarcerated for almost 11 years, serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, and will be eligible for parole after 32 years. For years, many celebrities and fans have stood in solidarity with the international dancehall star, chanting “Free Worl Boss,” which was also pinned in the post.
Nevertheless, despite being imprisoned, Kartel remains active in the music industry, releasing dozens of songs each year and posting regular commentary on his social media pages.
