Real Madrid has now booked their spot in the Champions League final by winning their knockout game against Manchester City on Wednesday. The game ended with a 3-1 result which also gave the Spanish club an aggregate 6-5 win.

For the first leg of the face-off between the two teams, Manchester City won the game with a 4-3 score and might have thought that they would have been securing the overall victory with Riyad Mahrez’s goal in the second half of the game but they were in for a shock when Real Madrid substitute Rodrygo scored two goals before the end of the full 90 minutes of play which sent the game into extra time.

Within three minutes of extra time play, Karim Benzema got a foul on behalf of a tackle from Ruben Dias which gave his team a penalty since he was brought down within the box. As such the Real Madrid forward took the penalty himself and executed it well which secured the aggregate win for the Spanish club.

The Champions League final will take place in Paris’ Stade de France on the 28th of May and it will see Real Madrid facing off against Liverpool who won their semifinal game against Villareal 2-5 on aggregate.
