Real Madrid Wins The Champions League Beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0

European Club footballing teams, Borussia Dortmund from Germany and Real Madrid from Spain battled on Saturday in what was the final and most important match of the 2023/2024 Champions League competition.

The first half of the match, for the most part, was evenly contested with both sides unable to find the back of the net. However, Dortmund was a bit better, having hit the post in a potentially half-side play.

After the first half, X user Joe Prince-Wright, tweeted, “Current expected goals (xG) after 40 minutes: Borussia Dortmund 1.64 v 0.09 Real Madrid.”

Both teams started the second half without making changes to the original lineup. “They just look sharper,” says a commenter shortly after the start of the second half with regards to Dortmund’s attractive way of playing.

As the match went on, the German team dominated, carving out an open chance in the 62nd minute, however, Madrid’s goalkeeper was positioned perfectly behind the headed ball. Despite Dortmund’s multiple close-range chances, it was Real Madrid who scored first in the 73rd minute.

Based on history, the team that scored first won the last seven(7) Champions League finals. Vinicius Junior made sure that historic statistic continues, scoring Real Madrid’s second of the night in the 82nd minute.

The match ended 2-0 to Real Madrid.
