Raheem Sterling’s Chelsea team had the better of the first half of the game by creating a few clear-cut opportunities but failed to capitalize. 13 minutes into the second half, Pinnock showed Chelsea’s impotent strikers how it’s done by nodding home at the back post, latching on to Mbeumo’s cross, following a well-timed run into the Blues box.

Continuing in their usual form in front of the opposition’s goal Chelsea were not able to get on the score sheet. In desperation to grab a goal late on the home side had all of their players in the box for a set-piece situation. However, the play did not amount to anything fruitful which allowed Brentford to catch them on the break.

Mbeumo who set up his team goal turned finisher as he was left with an empty goal to score as he made Chelsea pay on the counter. The 96-minute goal wrapped up the victory for the away team. Brentford also became the first team in the Premier League era to win their first three matches away to Chelsea.
