The Jamaican team had a lot on the line in what was the second leg of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup Prelims after the first leg ended 1-1 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday, March 21. However, heading to Tuesday’s match, Jamaica had an away goal advantage plus home crowd advantage.

The Reggae Boyz started off the match slow, with the first shot on SVG’s goal in the 22nd minute, notably, the shot was not on target, an illustration of how the match was going early on for Jamaica, despite the poor quality in the first quarter of the match from the Boyz, the Jamaicans managed to keep most of the position of the ball, the SVG having some threatening moments early on.

Jamaica went one goal up in the 27th minute via a well taken shot from Warner Dwayne Brown who was starting the first time for Jamaica’s senior team, it was also his second time playing for the senior team.

An own goal in the 87th minute by a SVG center back added to the disappointment of the visitors on the night, sending Jamaica 2 goals up.

Ronaldo Cephas sealed the deal for Jamaica in the 94th minute of the match to send the Boyz 3 goals up on the night. The two legs ended 4-1 on aggregate.

Last week, the Reggae Boyz almost suffered a historical defeat to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines after trailing for a long period in the match and still a goal behind in the 90th minute, Luckily Leon Bailey scored a penalty that was awarded to the Jamaicans deep into extra time.

With this result, Jamaica has qualified for 12 consecutive Gold Cup tournaments, the Boyz have made a total of 13 Goal Cup appearances. The tournament is set for the summer of 2025, it will be the island’s 14th appearance at the tournament.
