Rifle Found Behind Church In Zone Of Special Operations By The JCF

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) reported that on February 25, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m. a joint operation with the police and the military have led to the seizure of an M16 rifle containing two 5.56 rounds of ammunition.
Interestingly, this high-powered weapon was found behind a church in the Norwood, Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO).
Additionally, the JCF has further reported that two pistols were seized by the St. Andrew South Police and members of the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch.
During an operation in the Division, a Luger 9mm, a Magmil 9mm and eight rounds of ammunition were found in an abandoned building in the Tower Hill community.
These operations by the JCF of seizing illegal weapons in communities is a part of a crime-fighting initiative called ‘Get the Guns Campaign’. This initiative is aimed at intercepting illegal guns entering Jamaica and reducing the number of guns available for use in murders across the island.
