Robbery in Manchester Leaves 2 Dead; 4 in Custody

A Robbery carried out in Manchester on Friday, December 9 has left two individuals dead, and four others in police custody in connection to the heist turned homicide.

According to reports, the robbery took place in Porus, Manchester at around 7:00 PM yesterday evening when a group of gunmen held up a supermarket in the area and proceeded to make away with several items from the store and an undetermined sum of money.

In the process of making their escape, reports state the armed men opened fire. Three people were hit by gunshots during the shooting. It was later relayed that two of the three people that were shot succumbed to their injuries.

The gunmen, trying to get away in an awaiting car, were impeded by the swift reactions of members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) after the incident was reported. A prompt roadblock was erected, and the gunmen were commandeered in Williamsfield, Manchester.

Along with an AK 47 rifle, a revolver, a 9mm pistol, three firearms, several rounds of ammunition and a ballistic vest were confiscated after the men were seized and the getaway vehicle searched.

It has been noted that criminals have been more prevalent in the parishes of Manchester and St. Elizabeth as they target many small businesses in both areas. Some of the incidents have made their way to social media as viral videos have been circulated on the internet.
