Rohan Marley Lashes Out Following Criticism of ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ Grammy Win

Following the Grammy awards show, many have been reacting to the win online, with some expressing that the other nominees in the Best reggae Album category, primarily Vybz Kartel and Shenseea, were snubbed. Marley’s son, Rohan Marley, lashed out on Instagram in the comment section of a video post criticising the Marley family.

In the video, sound system selector Neako Fire said that the Grammys and the Marley family are corrupt. He further stated that the Marley family is part of the voting body for the Grammys, and they helped nominate and vote for the Bob Marley: One Love album.

“So dem choose the cover song weh was done for the show, Bob Marley show, and den turn round gi di cover song di grammy, which is plain f**kery. An dem thief Kartel, dem thief Shenseea, and all a di other nominees,” Neako stated.

In a since-deleted comment for the video post, Rohan told Neako to s*ck his mother. After an Instagram user tagged him while asking, “Truth hurts don’t it?” Rohan expressed that he was talking freely as everyone else. “You know we nuh tek nuh talk from nuh guy. We talk free like them talk free. Bob first Grammy big up @bobmarley. Who don’t like it guh SYM” Rohan wrote.

Reacting to Rohan’s statements, Neako said his father would not approve of the Bob Marley: One Love cover album winning the Grammy either. After Rohan dismissed his opinion on the matter, Neako expressed that it would have been much better if his son, YG Marley, had taken home the award.

The album Bob Marley: One Love—Music Inspired By The Film (Deluxe) won the best Reggae Album award at the 67th staging of the Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday. The album, which featured various artistes, consisted of covers of old songs by Bob Marley and the Wailers.
