Dancehall artiste Shabako expresses the sentiment of many Jamaicans in his new song/video entitled Burdens, asking the higher power to release the burdens and stress they have in their lives.
Shabako has seemingly answered the call of many fans for dancehall artistes to create more meaningful and substantial songs with this conscious track. Along with his powerful words, his melodies seamlessly connect with the soulful instrumental.
The rising artiste expresses his pain by singing, “Me got some demon a fight pon a daily haffi dweet me self because nobody can save me, war wid me thoughts similar to dung a Haiti, when me cry out father God a you a hear me, lord me nuh know how much more me can bear this.”
The music video shot in a black and white colour scheme seems fitting as it offers a sobering mood to match Shabako’s lyrics and the message he conveyed on this track.
The project was produced by producers Dj Treasure, One Family Records, Jevo and Real Live Records.
Shabako solidifies his message to the higher power with a powerful chorus, “Tek dem burden yah off a me because the struggle is real and me caa manage me cut up inside a me heart damage lord me knees dem weak still me nah give in.”
