Shaneil Muir Talks Overcoming Struggles, Dancehall, Spice, Jada, Kartel and Shane O Being Her Cousin – Watch Interview

Dancehall artiste Shaneil Muir shares the story of her musical journey, which was riddled with obstacles she had to overcome. Like many other Jamaican artistes, Shaneil Muir credited her early years singing in church as the catalyst for her love for music.

But since her breakthrough in the highly competitive space of Dancehall music, the Top Gyal singer has had a few public emotional breakdowns, steaming from a falling out with her management team, which had fans worried about her mental health.

According to Shaneil Muir, she is only human, and it’s natural to have a few moments like that in response to questions about her breakdown in a recent interview.

Shaneil Muir gave an insight into how she overcame those dark moments in her life. “A prayers, god, family, friends, love ones and me fans if a never that me nuh know weh me wud deh today, probably madder at this point, but a really just faith and strong will, and just not dwelling in the moment of whatever that was,” she revealed.

Shaneil Muir continued her interview on the LET’S BE HONEST Podcast by weighing in on the long-standing discussion of the lack of unity within Dancehall. The Mobay native revealed that she has personally experienced the lack of unity within the genre and that, based on her previous encounters, female dancehall artistes have the ‘biggest egos’.

Despite the disunity within the local music industry Shaneil Muir says she has gotten a lot of support from fellow artistes, including the likes of Beres Hammond, Teejay, Spice, and Jada Kingdom, to name a few.

The Yamabella artiste also revealed that she was the cousin of dancehall artiste Shane O. Even though Shane O is credited with being one of the most talented songwriters, Shaneil Muir says she has written all her songs plus ghostwrites for others.
