Shenseea Bashes Article Posted By The Jamaica Observer Highlighting Her Loss At MTV VMA’s – See Post

Jamaican superstar Shenseea responded to the Jamaica Observer for a recent news article that highlighted the entertainer’s defeat to a South Korean Boy Band named Seventeen for ‘Push Performance of the Year’ at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
At the event hosted on Sunday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the “Blessed” artiste was the only Jamaican female on the list, having been nominated in the category for her performance of the R U That single featuring 21 Savage from her debut album, ALPHA.
Considered to be a massive accomplishment for Shenseea, the article by the Jamaica Observer seemed condescending to the artiste who represented the country on the international stage. This is also because she is the first female to be nominated since the then ‘Queen of Dancehall‘ Lady Saw in 2003 for Best Pop Video following her collaboration with No Doubt, an American rock band for the single, Underneath It All.
On Twitter, the 25-year-old retweeted the article posted and vented her frustrations by saying she receives more love abroad than from her Jamaican people. She added that the news media highlighted her loss when the fact that she was nominated after such a long period was placed on the backbench.
“I get more love from foreigners than my own place of birth and everyone can see that. Cuz huh? How about thank you for repping 🇯🇲 and putting in the work to even get nominated after so long?” Shenseea tweeted.
