Dancehall princess Chinsea Linda Lee who is better known as Shenseea returns with another thought-provoking song and video in which she declares that it’s now dating season, ‘Dating Szn (Options)‘, hence she’s dating “two people at the same time”.
In this song, she candidly explores the modern dating scene, revealing that she’s currently juggling two romantic interests. With lyrics like, “Mi a date two people at the same time, just weighing my options,” she embraces the complexities of love and relationships.
Shenseea acknowledges that this approach might stir up some drama, but she’s determined to keep exploring her options until she finds the right match to settle down with. She also expresses a playful yet honest perspective on dating, stating, “Anuh cheat mi ma cheat just date by law, and if mi give it up mi not doing it raw, Until mi pick yo yuh affi share mi.”
The accompanying music video showcases Shenseea enjoying various dates with her suitors, adding a visual flair to her narrative. At the end of the day, she did not choose either of the two men she been hanging out with.
The beat of the song features instruments similar to that in the 1999 hit song ‘No Scrubs’ by TLC, hence it can be considered to be ‘R and B’ influenced despite the lyrics being predominantly Dancehall.
She teased the song a few days prior to its release, building excitement among fans. Since it’s release the tune has been generating a buzz with divided opinions, much like her “Hit & Run’ release with Masicka which highlights a similar lifestyle.
The song managed to rack up over 100 thousand views on YouTube after just 10 hours of being released. One fan reacted to the song, saying, “The intro is WICKED,” alluding to she almost slipping up with one of the men.
Another person wrote, “The men are going to hate this song because we females are about to be blasting it.” In comments made online recently, Shenseea outlined that while it’s dating season now, she is looking to “lockdown” with someone over the Christmas holidays.
