Soldier Killed During Friday Morning Shootout in Kingston

As per reports, a member of the Jamaica Defence Force(JDF) was fatally shot early Friday morning during a shootout with gunmen along Charles Street and Chestnut Lane in Kingston.
The soldier along with his colleagues was on foot patrol in the area when they pounced upon a group of men acting suspiciously, the lawmen made an attempt to accost the men, however, the pursuit ignited gunfire.
After rounds were exchanged, one member of the JDF was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the face, he was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) where he was pronounced dead.
The armed men managed to escape the scene on foot. The incident took place shortly after 1 AM.
The matter is currently being investigated by The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
