The annual festival returned with a resounding bang last night after its break during the Corona Virus pandemic and could there could not have been a better way to mark its grand return than officially cementing in history the long-awaited and well-deserved official coronation of Spice as the queen. Earlier this year CEO of DownSound Entertainment, Joe Bogdanovich, applauded Spice for paving the way for younger female artists and said it was only fitting that she receive the title on the Reggae Sumfest stage, an event she has performed at nearly a dozen times.

Ms. Kitty praised Spice’s many achievements and accolades during the crowning ceremony.
“You are the consummate performer. You are one of the most iconic lyricists in dancehall, not as a man or woman but as a Dancehall artiste.” Ms. Kitty said as the onlookers gave their resounding approval.

Spice was briefly joined by her 15-year-old son, Nicholas Jr, who hugged his mom as CEO Joe Bogdanovich ended the short ceremony by presenting Spice with a diamond-encrusted crown. Bogdanovich wished anyone who might be thinking of trying to accomplish what she has good luck.

Spice recently received her first Grammy nomination for her debut studio album “10” and the always hard-at-work artiste recently returned from the tour that saw her performing in Switzerland, Germany, France and other European countries.
