State of Emergency Extended in St. James

[Sharingbuttons]The Parliament will be on a Summer break this week so the House voted to authorize the extension of the State of Emergency in St. James on Tuesday. Even though, the previous resolution is in place until the first week of August.

The zones of Special operations have been extended for another 60 days and the State of Emergency will go on for another 3 months. Prime Minister Andrew Holness told the house that average murders have fallen all over the island since the new measures have been put in place to tackle crime.

With the added amount of visitors on the island who are patrons of the Reggae Festival that is being held in Montego Bay St. James, all necessary precautions had to be taken so that music lovers are protected and the country can continue to earn the well-needed revenue that is generated at this time.
