Taxi Driver Shot and Killed in Linstead; 3 Passengers Injured
A taxi driver travelling along the Linstead/Ewarton route was shot and killed Tuesday night (April 23, 2024) at a quarter past 10 PM. Three passengers were also injured during the incident.
Reports state that a gunman parading as a passenger boarded a taxi, driven by a man identified as Gabian Lewis, along with three other passengers. The gunman asked to be let off close to the train line at the overhead bridge in Vanfair (Vanity Fair) and Lewis granted his request.
However, after the assailant alighted from the car, he wielded a handgun, firing into the taxi and hitting Lewis and the other three passengers. Lewis, a resident of Benbow district in Guys Hill, St. Catherine, died at the scene.w
The injured passengers were taken to the Linstead Public Hospital by residents of the area for treatment.
Investigations have yet to yield a motive for the killing.
