Dancehall’s Uptop Boss Teejay had a memorable linkup with dancehall legend Shabba Ranks, who was very pleased to see the young deejay. Teejay and Shabba met at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, where the corridor walls boasted numerous frames that included musicians, and basketball players.
The two were walking in opposite directions, and as soon as they neared each other, Shabba and Teejay exchanged a lengthy handshake. Shabba’s happiness to greet Teejay was evident in his very firm handshake, tugging hard on Teejay’s arm and igniting laughter from him as well as the onlookers snapping photos around them.
The Trailor Load a Girls hitmaker urged him to stand firm during the handshake and also offered some advice about owning the dancehall genre with his musical peers. “A fi unuh own enuh…A fi unuh own. Di work already done. The Younger generation master it, promote it and do it…Do di ting man,” he said.
Teejay took to Instagram to share the moment with fans while apparently having a good laugh over the 57-year-old singer’s impressive strength in comparison to his own.
“Mi have to wonder what them man ya feed pon the great Shabba one a di 🐐dem, yow e man strong 💪 ya Fuk 😂😂😂 affi go start eat up mi interples and mi protein man seh stand up man 🤣🤣🤣 @theshabbaranks,” he wrote in the caption.
