As Dancehall artiste Teejay looks towards 2022 for the release of his upcoming album “Rags to Riches”, his eyes are also set on becoming a crossover act, widening his fans base to mainstream audiences. Teejay told the Jamaica Star who he initially spoke to that mainstream fans are his current target since they are usually the ones who buy music, added with the fact that they already have a liking to the Dancehall culture which is a plus for him since he does not have to change his style regardless of the country he is performing in.
Teejay is well known as one of the best vocalists in Dancehall music right now, having a long background in singing, even appearing back in the days on the “All Together Sing” program so it is by no mistake that the entertainer has reached so far in his music career.
The stage at which his work has brought him is observable in the fact that the entertainer recently performed at the Verzuz ICONZ concert that had been held at the Barclays Center, also featuring veteran Dancehall superstar Super Cat.
As it relates to that show, Teejay said the moment was legendary for him and gave him the feeling of being an icon, considering where his work has brought him.
For the opportunity, the “Escobar” singer expressed that he was grateful, especially to Sharon Burke from Solid agency whose role in his success, he described as good management.
Going further with his career, Teejay is keeping the ears of his fans active on the pursuit to crossover, while preparing for his album release in 2022 and is accomplishing just that by dropping songs in the interim with his most recent one being a track entitled “Escobar” which is a motivation song for those youths who hope to be rich.
Do not be surprised too if “Escobar”, appears on the deejay’s debut ” Rags to Riches” album, as the “Uptop Boss” noted to the Jamaica Star, that the project will be a diverse one, that shows his tier of talent and growth, whilst overall having the likeness of a painted picture, that will be powerful and unforgettable.
