Many protests are ongoing in the USA requesting for police reform amidst the trial for the death of George Floyd which took place last year in 2020 on May 25th in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.
Derek Chauvin, the lead suspect who was previously charged with the murder of Floyd was previously granted a 1 million dollar bail and has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Floyd and will argue that Floyd died because of a drug overdose and underlying health issues he had.
Currently, uncertainty is surrounding the verdict even though most people believe that the ex-cop is guilty of the killing. Large groups are expected to gather throughout the trial at the courthouse in Minneapolis.
Last year many Jamaicans including Bounty Killer, Nature Ellis took to the US embassy along Hope Road in St. Andrew to protest the unfair treatment of black people in the USA.
Spice and several other Jamaicans were present in the USA marching against the uncalled for killing.
Unable to take to the streets, Vybz Kartel, PM Holness and several other Jamaican celebrities took to social media to fight against injustice in our society and world.
The trial for the other three officers involved in the incident will go on trial in August, they are involved in the murder and are facing charges of aiding and abetting murder.
According to reports the trial will be broadcast via a live stream.
