Escapee Troy Ellis, the suspect in Talia’s rape and murder case, was captured and is now back in police custody. The Jamaica Constabulary Force confirmed this morning that the 27-year-old was apprehended after a licenced firearm holder identified him.
The statement released by the authorities detailed that a female licenced firearm holder was driving along Discovery Bay Main Road when she recognised a man who matched the police’s description of the suspect. She subsequently apprehended the man and handed him over to the Discovery Bay Police at around 10:35 p.m. Sunday.
The statement also indicated that there is an ongoing investigation into the “circumstances surrounding his escape” by the Inspectorate and Professional Standard Oversight Bureau (IPROB).
Ellis, a hotel worker, had escaped police custody while at St. Ann’s Bay Hospital on September 30.
The suspect, who resides at an address in Fort Land, Discovery Bay, was taken into custody and brought to the hospital on September 24, as he had made attempts to end his life after allegedly raping and killing 8-year-old Talia.
