US $3.8 Million And CAD $30,000 Counted In Cash For St. James Bust

After a joint operation by the divisional police team Anti-Gang task force on Tuesday in Coral Gardens, St. James, millions of dollars said to be in international currency was seized an as such a high level investigation is currently ongoing into the matter.

Along with the millions of foreign currency that were found, 11kg of cocaine was also seized which is said to have a street value of $88 million in Jamaican dollars. The contraband was found when a car travelling in the aforementioned area was intercepted by the team conducting the joint operation after which it was searched and the drugs found.

The joint team of officers also proceeded to premises where they searched at which cash amounts of CAD $30,000 and US $3.8 million were found and confiscated. As it concerns the persons found in connection with the bust so far, two individuals have so far been detained.

As it relates to criminal organizations locally and internationally, the different law enforcement agencies have been increasing the intensity of their operations to lower violence in Jamaica to create an atmosphere of tenacity, transformation and trust which was expressed by the Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson at the 2022 hosting of the JCF’s annual devotion.
