Usain Bolt Trains for 800m Event
Usain Bolt will be going the extra half mile, he decided to make a brief come back for a promotional race. The now-retired world’s fastest man is changing distances from 100 and 200 metres to 800 metres.
The father of three selected the 800 metre, which is a two-lap race and the training is said to be gruelling. The 100 and 200 metre world champion revealed that since he has been back on the track and he has started training, he doesn’t miss the sport so much. He is excited and he is just checking to see what he can do.
Since the world record holder who is now 34 retired in 2017 seemingly missed the track. He is now changing diapers, producing music, playing football.
Bolt’s best time around the track has been 2 minutes 5 seconds while wearing track shoes, he believes he will be doing it under 2 minutes with spikes on. He is all about setting world records and the current world record holder is David Rudisha of Kenya who won in a time of 1:40.91, at the 2012 London games.
The July 13 race will be with an opponent that will not be on the track. A Carmax customer will be receiving an instant online offer for a vehicle while Bolt races around his home track.
Fans might see him do his signature “Lightning Bolt” pose at the end. However, he made it clear that he is glad about wearing his spikes again, but he is definitely not returning to the sport, this is just a one-off challenge.
The event will be stream on Bolt’s Facebook page.
