Vybz Kartel Seeks Release: Lawyers File Habeas Corpus Application

On Monday, the attorneys representing Vybz Kartel whose real name is Adidja Palmer, as well as Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell and Andre St John took legal action by filing a habeas corpus application in the Supreme Court, aiming for their release from custody.
The other co-accused, Kahira Jones, is reported to be engaged in a separate legal matter. Isat Buchanan, one of the attorneys involved, cited undisclosed issues prompting the defence to bring the application before the court, referring to events that hindered the defence’s proceedings.
As per the Jamaica Gleaner, The matter has been adjourned until May 29 and 30, indicating a further legal process in the coming weeks. Throughout the legal proceedings, Palmer who is currently 48 years old has denied any involvement in Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams’ murder, vehemently maintaining innocence.

A pre-trial hearing is set to start on June 10th. Kartel and his co-accused were initially convicted in 2014 for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, the murder reportedly took place in 2011 after Lizard failed to return “shoes”/gun owned by Kartel.
