For the first time, Vybz Kartel publicly talks about Alkaline who is known to be one of his top adversaries in the Dancehall genre.
While Kartel alludes to there being no “bad blood” on his side, he points out that the Vendetta deejay and others should acknowledge the artistes before them and if they don’t accept that, they won’t reach far.
The Portmore deejay who now resides in St. Ann was asked about the fellow deejay by Anthony Miller at the launch of Freedom Street Concert. “Always asking the tough questions,” said Kartel as he was being quizzed by Miller.
“Do you ever anticipate a time when you level the Vybz with Alkaline?” Kartel responds to the question, saying, “A mean it’s a good water… that’s it, big up Mavado.”
He was next asked if Alkaline was to admit publicly that Kartel helped to influence him, whether or not that would make a difference, Palmer responded, saying, “Not his career, every career, the same way how I’m not afraid to say, Buju Banton a mi biggest inspiration, Ninja Man.”
Kartel went on to share his thoughts on the deejay at the moment, “Everybody know Kartel set the trend… There is no bad blood either, i’m a grown man, i’m a changed man… we don’t hold grudges.”
