A 33-year-old Utah mother of three by the name of Kouri Richins was arrested and charged for her husband’s death a year later, and after writing a book on grief to help her children get through their father’s passing.
Entitled Are You With Me? the book is about a little boy who lost his father and often wonders if his late dad is able to witness the things happening in his daily life, like his nerves on the first day of school and his goals when playing soccer.
According to ABC News, court documents state that in February 2022, her husband, Eric Richins (39), confided in a family member that he thought his wife was trying to poison him because he became ill after a Valentine’s Day dinner with Kouri. A month later in March, Eric was found dead in their shared bedroom at the foot of the bed. They had been married for nine years.
A medical examiner revealed that Kouri’s husband died from an overdose of fentanyl as five times the lethal dosage of the drug was found in his system.
During an interview, Kouri stated that she found her husband “unresponsive” in their bedroom after making him a mixed drink and leaving to put one of her kids to bed. She said that his death came as a “shock”.
Further reports state that Kouri had bought a total of $900 worth of pills on two occasions from an unidentified dealer and had changed her husband life insurrance policy to become the sole beneficiary but when her husband found out he removed her and made plans for a divorce.
Kouri is due for an upcoming court appearance later in May.
