The illegal substance was found in ‘knitted bags’ and weighs 2,526.4 kilograms. Five men have been arrested in relation to the drug bust at the upper St. Andrew location.

The operation was carried out by a team of police officers from the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) within the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC).

Superintendent Sam Blake, head of the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division stated, “This operation further demonstrates the ongoing efforts of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to combat narcotics and firearms trafficking in Jamaica.”

The find is being regarded as one of Jamaica’s biggest drug busts, if not the biggest as it relates to cocaine locally. Further investigations are being carried out by the police.
