$3.3 Million In Ganja Seized In St. Elizabeth Along With A Gun And Loads Of Ammunition
The St. Elizabeth Police on Monday and Tuesday made a ganja and gun seizure while carrying out an anti-narcotics operation and are now asking the public for assistance in helping them to find the persons connected to the contrabands.
The seizure was made in the parish capital of Black River where over 800 pounds of marijuana along with a firearm and loads of ammunition were found by the Police.
According to the Jamaica Gleaner that initially published the story, on the first day of the probe carried out on Monday the Police reported that a search was conducted at a location which resulted in the seizure of 109 .22 cartridges.
On the second day of the anti-narcotics operation, carried out on Tuesday, the Parottee beach in the parish was searched leading to 17 knitted bags of ganja being seized along with a boat, two boat engines and seven barrels of gasoline.
The ganja seized when weighed, totalled an amount of 828 pounds, which was then evaluated for an estimated street value which was found to be approximately $3.3 million.
On the same day, a seizure of a 9mm pistol was also found in the area of Burnt Savannah, however, no one has been arrested in relation to the matter.
As such the St. Elizabeth Police is seeking the assistance of the public to gain information that might lead to the arrest of the persons responsible for the seized contrabands.
