American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, 25, is reportedly having financial difficulties and is not in a position to pay the plaintiffs for a civil lawsuit that was filed against him for an armed robbery that he was allegedly involved in on April 3, 2018.

According to court documents obtained, 6ix9ine attested that “Right now, I am struggling to make ends meet. I do not know if I will ever command the kind of advances I was paid before my arrest, and my career stalled”.

He further detailed that the Covid-19 pandemic has also affected his earnings as he is unable to make money from doing shows.

Furthermore, the 25-year-old rapper claims that the record deal he had with TenThousand Projects had expired, as well as a merchandise deal a month ago. He shared that before his arrest, he received a sizeable advance under the recording artiste and merchandising agreements but has not been receiving any royalties in recent times.

In December 2021, a civil lawsuit was filed by Seketha Wonzer and Kevin Dozier against the rapper who they say was at the scene of the crime when a violent street gang named Trey Nine Bloods mistakenly ambushed them on April 3, 2018 in Manhattan.

The victims stated that five armed men approached them in an SUV and demanded that they get on the ground before robbing them of their belongings. They further stated that the aggressors along with 6ix9ine believed that they were affiliated with J.Prince’s Rap-A-Lot Records.

As part of 6ix9ine’s deal with prosecutors during his racketeering trial, he pleaded guilty to this crime as well as other charges against him.

Tekashi 6ix9ine is now petitioning the courts for leniency when they deliver their verdict in this trial against him, as he believes that any unfavourable decision will leave him bankrupt. He also added that they take into account that he has a family who relies on him.
