Rushane Patterson Arrested at Guesthouse in Hanover
Rushane Patterson, the person of interest in the death of Aneka “Slickianna” Townsend has reportedly been arrested on Wednesday morning by officers of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) at a guesthouse in Hanover.
According to reports, Patterson was apprehended sometime after 1 a.m. and taken into custody. The JCF had previously issued a notice instructing him to report to the station for questioning on October 22, however, news circulated that he fled the island to the United States (US).
On Tuesday, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Fitz Bailey, reassured the public that the police are actively investigating the matter. During the briefing, he disclosed that an attorney contacted him and advised that Patterson would be reporting to the station on Thursday.
Townsend’s body was discovered floating face down in the sea in Reading, St. James on Friday, October 21. She was retrieved from the water by the police and members of the Marine Division. A wig and a bloodied piece of cloth were reportedly also retrieved from the scene by officers.
It is suspected that Townsend was killed at a different location and then discarded in the waters.
